Undergraduate Research Student, Inpyo Son, Awarded Best Paper Presentation at the 2026 Spring Conference of the Korean Institute of Interior Design(KIID)

We are pleased to announce that Inpyo Son , a student in the Integrated Bachelor-Master Program and a member of the SELab in the Department of Interior Architecture at Gachon University, received a Best Presentation Award at the 2026 Korean Institute of Interior Design (KIID) Autumn Conference held on May 16 at Chungang University.

The awarded project proposed a flagship store for Vans in Bukchon, Seoul, exploring how the spatial character of Korean alleyways can be reinterpreted through the brand’s street culture identity. By focusing on the layered routes, intimate scale, irregular circulation, and everyday urban atmosphere of Bukchon’s alleys, the project developed a spatial strategy that connects Vans’ dynamic street sensibility with the cultural and spatial context of Korea.

The project demonstrates the student’s ability to translate contextual research into a creative spatial concept and to develop a design proposal that meaningfully bridges global brand culture and local urban identity.

Congratulations once again to Inpyo Son for this outstanding accomplishment!
