Presentation at the AIDIA Academic Forum

Professor Keunhye Lee represented Korea at the 2026 AIDIA International Academic Forum, presenting her approach to AI-based interior design education and discussing the future of design education with experts and professors from across Asia.

Professor Keunhye Lee delivered a presentation at the AIDIA International Academic Forum, held as part of the 2026 AIDIA International Student Workshop at Henan University in Kaifeng, China.

The presentation, titled ‘AI in Interior Design Education: From Representation to Reflective Design Thinking,’ explored how generative AI can support experimentation, reflection, and design decision-making in interior architecture education. Drawing on teaching practices and student projects at Gachon University, Professor Lee emphasised a human-centred approach in which AI serves as a creative partner while designers retain intention, judgement, and responsibility.

Following the presentation, Professor Lee participated in a panel discussion with interior design experts and professors from across Asia. The participants exchanged perspectives on the influence of AI on creativity, authorship, student assessment, and studio-based teaching. They also discussed how design education can respond to technological change while preserving critical thinking, cultural context, and human spatial experience.

The forum provided a valuable opportunity to introduce current approaches to AI-based interior design education in Korea and to exchange perspectives with educators and practitioners from across Asia.
